ET-ZT-6 Table Top Hot Air Reflow Machine
Emulation Technology, Inc. offers the ET-ZT-6 which addresses the problem of reflowing PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors, IC sockets and other components to PCBs. This small and completely portable table top machine uses directed hot air to directly heat only the connector and the small area around it. This machine has its own internal air supply so no compressed air or special hook-ups or power outlets are required. This production quality machine can be quickly readied for use on the production floor, the test lab, or the engineer's desk.
The ET-ZT-6 hot air reflow system is used with our PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors with the integrated solder-array. It provides repeatable results and is ideal for both low and high volume applications. It provides a fast method to solder all of the pins at one time, eliminating costly hand soldering and eliminates the chance for getting solder onto the mating connector pins. Finally, the ET-ZT-6 makes connector removal easier than ever. The simultaneous reflow of all leads means that the connector can be lifted right out of the substrate without fear of damaging the PCB.
With the ET-ZT-6, synchronous reflow of all pins for PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors can be made quickly (one connector at a time) and, importantly, yield high quality, eutectic solder joints with fillets on both top and bottom far exceeding the most stringent requirements of IPC-A-610 Class 3. The barrel fill is strikingly superior to pins hand soldered when a visual, comparative inspection is made.

General Operating Procedure
1) Insert the solder-array PC/104 or PC/104+ connector into the board
2) Add flux (flux may be added before inserting the connector)
3) Place the assembly onto the ET-ZT-6
4) Allow 1 minute for reflow. While the board is heating, the operator can prepare the next board.
5) Remove the assembly and cool the solder joints.
